
A photograph by Vojtech Herout called “Vaclav Havel is peeking” won the Czech Press Photo 2011 Audience Award. The photographer caught Vaclav Havel at the premiere of his film “Leaving” as he was watching the audience reaction from behind a corner.
Czech PressPhoto exhibition at the Old Town Hall in Prague was visited between November last year and the end of January this year by 45,000 people and 9,936 of them answered the question Which picture did you find the most compelling?, and 2.304 people voted for the curious Havel.
The AUDIENCE AWARD - a crystal sculpture made by Ruckl Crystal was presented to the author of the photograph on the last but one day of the Czech Press Photo 2011 exhibition Monday 30th January at 5pm at the Cross Hall of the Old Town Hall. The winners of the audience poll draw received their prizes in the form of Canon and Nikon goods.

Marketing Director of Nikon, Eva Cizkova, was involved in a traffic accident on her way from Zbraslav to Prague and the three audience poll winners – Petra Cimermanova from Prague 9, Dana Vytiskova from Ostrava and Eliska Prchlikova from Tabor – could not receive their 6,000 Kc, 4,000 Kc and 2,000 Kc vouchers for Nikon products at the Old Town Hall, but they did so a day later by e-mail.
Vojta Herouth, author of the winning picture, is toasting with Daniela Mrazkova Director of Czech Press Photo, and Ladislav Palecek, Director General of Canon.
