Press Release and Results - CPP2011

17th year of competition and exhibition of journalistic photography takes place under the personal auspices of the president of the Czech Republic and the Mayor of Prague.

 

288 photographers with permanent residency in the Czech and Slovak Republics took part in the competition with the total of 3,744 images.

 

International jury worked between 7 - 9 October 2011:
Mladen Antonov, photographer, editor-in-chief AFP Photo, France – Walter Bergmoser, pedagogue, curator, Germany – Celina Dunlop, picture editor The Economist, UK – Tomasz Gudzowaty, photographer, Poland – Lee Yong Hwan, pedagogue, Chung-ang University, South Korea – Petr Josek, photographer Reuters, Czech Republic – Peter Korniss, photographer, WPP advisory board, Hungary – Marian Pauer, pedagogue, publicist, curator, Slovakia – Andrej Reiser, photographer Bilderberg, Czech Republic - Silvia Omedes Alegre, curator, educator, publicist, Spain – Tsvetan Tomcev, photographer, chairman Bulgarian Press Photo, Bulgaria

 

The International Jury awarded the main prize – THE PHOTOGRAPH OF THE YEAR – and eight first, eight second and eight third monetary prizes in all of the eight competition categories, and five Honorable Mentions. The jury also selected the UNHCR Award, two NIKON SPORT AWARDS and six CANON JUNIOR AWARDS for photographers bellow the age of 25.

 

The president of the Czech Republic will personally present the main prize -The Crystal Eye - to the winner at the exhibition opening.

 

The Prague Mayor selected the GRANT OF PRAGUE CZECH PRESS PHOTO 2011 and will present it to the recipients personally at the exhibition opening.

 

Other prizes: ACADEMIC and FOTONOVA.

 


The readers of iDnes.cz award and the Alik.cz children’s prize will be awarded on the basis of Internet poll results.

 

The competition and exhibition CZECH PRESS PHOTO 2011 is organised by CZECH PHOTO o.p.s. and  Capital City of Prague together with UNHCR, CEZ, Canon, Nikon, Trigema and Fotonova.

 

The main prize – The Crystal Eye – was made by Ruckl Crystal.

 

CZECH PRESS PHTO 2011 exhibition will be opened from 15th November 2011 until 31st January 2012 in the Old Town Hall in Prague. The award ceremony, followed by the exhibition opening, will take place on the 15th November 2011 at 5pm in Brozik’s Hall of the Old Town Hall.

 

The travelling exhibition is organised by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
