Jury

Born in Koloszvar, Romania, but has lived in Hungary since early childhood. Graduated in law from Budapest University. As a photographer he spent forty years recording the disappearing way of life and culture in Hungarian villages. In the 1970s he photographed over a ten year period the life of a peasant working as a town labourer. An author of many photographic books – the best known are Heaven Bridegroom (1975), Passing Times (1979), The Guest Worker (1988), Inventory – Pictures from Transylvania (1998) and Attachment (2000). He is a member of the International Advisory Committee of the W. Eugene Smith Grant (USA), Member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts since 1999, founding member of the Sony World Photographic Academy (UK) since 2007. He is the only international permanent member of Czech Press Photo international juries.
